On my long journey for a ride to replace my 2004 Mazda RX-8, many were my favorites, this is one. The new totally redesigned 370Z is shown here with an aftermarket Nismo body kit. This also had a Stillen exhaust and was my favorite testdrives so far. This was March 2009 and the third 370Z I'd driven.
I thought it looked pretty cool. Definitely an eye-catcher. These photos were taken at Mossy Nissan of El Cajon. The sales guys in the top photo are Cowboy and Karl. Cowboy let me drive, a then new, 2008 Nissan 350Z, about 4 months earlier. I had dismissed that car as having a cheap looking interior and a heavy driving feel. I did like it's engine and power, but it was not close to the refinement of the Porsche Caymans and Boxsters I had been test driving recently.
I like a lot about this car, but not the back end aero kit. It reminded me of a step on a truck, and I was afraid someone would stand on it an break it. Plus, I am not getting another red car. My RX-8 is in the picture and I'm looking for change.
This is the color I like the best, Monterey Blue. It's pearl based, so it changes color as the light changes. This is a base model with the sport package. Note the 19-inch wheels. Love the headlights and overall shape.
This car, optioned like I would want it, sport package and illuminated kickplates, has a MSRP of $33850. It's dealer invoice cost is $31,513. I'd add the Stillen exhaust for about $1300 and offer $32,000 for it. The Touring model has a leather interior, plus a lot of extras, for $3000 more.
Man, that thing is a beaut! I love the Mazda RX-7 because of its powerful Wankel rotary engine. Sure it burns a ton of fuel, but it is one heck of a fast mover with an incredible power-to-weight ratio. I haven't driven an RX-8 yet, but I hope to get a chance to do so.
